En novembre 2016, la Fondation avait lancé une levée de fonds pour la restauration du tableau Le Palais Sans Souci peint par Numa Desroches en 1818.  La somme nécessaire, 1.500,00 dollars, avait rapidement été rassemblée. Elle avait été acheminée au centre de restauration de l’Université Quisqueya ou l’artiste et conservateur Franck Louissaint a effectué la restauration.

Michel Philippe Lerebours avait noté que que le travail était délicat, minutieux et demandait énormément de temps et de patience ; un travail rendu encore plus difficile parce que le tableau avait été peint sur papier. Un aspect important de la complexité de l’effort et du temps nécessaire pour l’effectuer est qu’il a fallu d'abord retirer plusieurs restaurations défectueuses. C'est ce travail méticuleux de préparation qui est la fondation de la restauration proprement dite.

In November 2016 the Foundation launched a fundraising effort for the restoration of Le Palace Sans Souci artwork painted by Numa Desroches in 1818. The fundraising was successful and the $1,500.00 needed was quickly gathered. It was forwarded to the Quisqueya University's restoration center where artist and conservator Franck Louissaint is performing the work.

Michel Philippe Lerebours, had  noted that the work is delicate, painstaking and requires a lot of time and patience; work made even more difficult because the artwork was painted on paper. An important aspect of the complexity of the effort and the time required to perform it, is that it was first necessary to remove several defective restorations. It is this meticulous preparation work that is the foundation of the restoration itself. Franck Louissaint tells us that it will take another few months to complete the work. The painting was restored by Haitian artist and master conservator Franck Louissaint. Restoration will include replacing missing sections of the paper and repairing its tears as well as retouching and enhancing the colors in order to return the painting to its original brilliance.

Numa Desroches est né entre 1800 et 1805 sans doute au Cap-Haitien, il aurait reçu des leçons de Richard Evans. Ce n'est pas impossible bien que les rares œuvres que nous connaissons de lui ne laissent pas entrevoir de connaissance académique.  Après la mort de Christophe, il s’installa au Cap-Haitien comme portraitiste et peintre d’histoire.  Il aurait également peint les divers édifices et monuments de la ville du Cap et de ses environs. Le tableau Le Palais de Sans-Souci est à la Bibliothèque de l'Ecole des frères de Saint Louis de Gonzague à Port-au-Prince Haïti.

Numa Desroches was born between 1800 and 1805 probably in Cap-Haitien, he might have received lessons from Richard Evans. It's not impossible, however, the rare works we know of him leaves no glimpse of academic knowledge. After the death of Christophe, he settled at the Cap-Haitian as a portraitist and history painter. He also painted various buildings and monuments of Cap city and its surroundings. The painting of the Palace of Sans-Souci is in the Library of the Brothers of Saint Louis de Gonzague's school in Port-au-Prince Haiti.

“There is something unexpected in the work of Numa Desroches, which is no doubt born from the spontaneity of the composition and the harmonious play of lines and colors, but above all, it’s born from an atmosphere of calm and candid majesty. If it is realistic and if it presents itself as historical testimony, it gives decoration a major role and, despite the dryness of the subject, brings out a wonderful universe. Sans-Souci seems to belong much more to a fairy tale than to historical reality.” 

« Il y a quelque chose d'imprévu dans l'œuvre de Numa Desroches, qui tient certes de la spontanéité de la composition et du jeu harmonieux des lignes et des couleurs, mais surtout d'une atmosphère de calme et de majesté candide. Si elle se veut réaliste et si elle se présente comme un témoignage historique, elle fait une grande part à la décoration et, malgré la sécheresse du sujet, débouche sur un univers merveilleux. Sans-Souci semble beaucoup plus appartenir à un conte de fée qu'à la réalité historique. »
